Game Summary | This game was an incredible nail-biter as two very evenly matched teams played a great game. The outcome hung in the balance until the very last pitch. The Monarchs scored 1 in the first, but the Sugar Kings' ace Gabriel D'A kept the Monarchs at bay. It was 6-1 going into the fourth. The Monarchs' Alex R. came in and threw 3 shutout innings, giving the team time to claw back to just a two run deficit going into the 6th. Just 1 strike away from defeat, Aaron H. doubled home the tying run. RBI singles by Daniel A. and Peter W. made it 8-6. The 'Kings Henry Z.'s 2 RBI's tied it up and when Monarch Alex L. caught a fly ball for the third out this razor-close game was in extra innings! In the top of the 7th the Monarchs batted through the order with another clutch hit by Aaron H. helping them score 4. The Sugar Kings got a 2 out rally going and scored 2. The tying run was at the plate, but closer Kai H. threw 3 quick strikes, somewhere a fat lady sang, and this memorable ballgame was over. |
