Game Summary | Sounds 10, Cannons 8 The Sounds held off the Cannons' rally in the bottom of the sixth to win the Saturday, March 6, season opener for both teams 10-8. With two runners on base, Noel R struck out the final two Cannon batters to seal the victory. Noel R also sparked the offense with a two-run double in the first inning to give Sounds an early lead. Both teams played a strong game with many outstanding plays, as the Sounds matched timely hitting and fielding to maintain their lead. In the fourth inning the Cannons pounded out four hits, but center fielder John T started two Sounds cutoff plays, including a tag out at the plate by catcher Gavin H on a triple by the Cannons' Matt R. Sounds firstbaseman Oliver S snuffed another rally with a diving catch to end the fifth inning. The Cannons played well in the field, with Dayton S and Andrew S making outstanding plays, and Evan F and William C playing solid infield defense. Matt R and Madison W led the Cannons with two hits. Anrew S, Mark B, Andrew F, and Gavin H rapped two hits apiece for the Sounds, and Bobby D added a long triple. |
