| Team Summaries | Tucson Xtreme Notes: The Highland Hawks came down to Tucson with a well prepared and executed game plan that proved to be successful in their 6-5 win over the Tucson Xtreme. The game winner came with :47 left in regulation on a man-up goal tallied by Mike DeAlba, his second of the game. Both teams appeared as though they had the opening game jitters which resulted in only one 1st half score from X-Man Kyle Carter (FR). The second half proved to me more Xciting for both players and fans alike. In the 3rd stanza, the X-Men went up 2-0 on a goal by Gil Munguia (JR). At that point the Hawks decided it was time to make a showing on the scoreboard as Tristan Henslee scored with 6:54 remaining in the 3rd. The Xtreme answered back when Captain Frankie Armenta (SO) took things in his own hands for a 3-1 advantage. Hawk's DeAlba responded with help from a Tim Glaza assist less then a minute later. Highland ended the 3rd quarter by knotting the score at 3 when a cross crease pass was deflected off an X-Man's stick into the goal. Hey, that's Lax! The final stanza proved why the fans paid their money. The goaltending was Xceptional at both ends of the field. Tucson's Ben Kagen (FR) had 5 huge saves and Aaron Busby stopped 3 big shots for his team. The final 12 minutes began as the Hawks took their first lead of the game on an unassisted goal by Glaza. The Xtreme fought back when Kevin Sanders (FR) fed Matt Baum (JR) tying the score for the 2nd time. Tim Glaza then dodged his way down the throat of X-Men's defense to score the second of his goals giving the Hawks a 5-4 lead. The Xtreme weren’t done yet as Captain Matt Baum dodged through the Highland defense and fired in a left handed rocket with 3:32 left on the clock. Baum’s goal tied the game for the 3rd time. With 1:08 felt on the clock, through their hustle, Tucson went off sides setting up the winning goal by DeAlba. Great Game for a season opener and Congratulations to both squads!
