Team Summaries Express Notes:
The host NOLL AAA Express fell to the Rubber Ducks 10-1 at Golden Gate Academy on Sunday afternoon. The Ducks' timely hits and their solid defense were the difference in a game where the Freight Trains just couldn't put the Ducks away with two outs - surrendering seven two-out runs.

'we didn't get the win, obviously, but it was a closer game than it looks, and I was happy with the way the guys hung in there,' said Coach Brook after the game. 'For example, the first five batters reached against Liam D in the top of the first, but he worked through it and limited the damage to juts two run. Similarly, I thought John S. and Ari F. both really battled out there on the mound. And Tyler was just dealing at the end. A lot of positives to take away from the game.'

After giving up two runs in the first, starting pitcher Liam D settled down to get out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam, ending the threat with a comebacker to the mound and two strike outs. He was just as effective in the second, striking out the first two Ducks he faced and getting a pop-up to end the frame.

Ducks starter Bennett B was strong from the outset, added by solid defense behind him. Bennett needed just three pitches to the get through the top of the first and eleven to finish off the second. In all, he retired the first seven Locomotives he faced.

Leading 2-0, the Ducks broke the game open in the top of the third, plating five runs - four of which scored after there were two gone. 'John was throwing strikes,' said Coach Brook after the game. 'We just couldn't put them away after we had two outs, and they got the timely hits they needed.' Jasper S and Otto R both drove in runs for the Ducks.

The Express scored their only run of the game in the third, as Tyler J followed Sam W-S's opposite field double with an RBI single.

The Ducks sent another three runs across in the fourth - all scoring with two outs. 'Same story for us - we couldn't put them away,' said Coach Brook. 'Ari did a good job out there.'

After the fourth, the Express shut down the Ducks' offense as Tyler J needed just 20 pitches (16 of which he threw for strikes) to get through the last two frames.

The Express threatened in the fourth and sixth. In the fourth, hits by Cole E and walks by John S. and Jonah L. loaded the bases, but the Diesels couldn't convert. In the sixth, after singles by Aidan D and Ari put two on with nobody out, Cole E smashed a line drive to center, but the Ducks center fielder made a fantastic play to catch the ball that was headed for the wall. Two batters later, the game was in the books.

'We had several hard hit balls today,' said Coach Brook. 'Cole's ball, Erik W.'s in the second inning - they just made a lot of good plays. That's baseball. Now, we're on to the Bulls next Saturday.'
