Team Summaries Express Notes:
Just two games into the season, the 2015 NOLL AAA Express have already earned the moniker of the Comeback Kids. After coming back from four runs down in the sixth inning last week against the Bats, the Express fought their way back repeatedly this morning against the visiting SOLL AAA Hooks at Caldecott field. Down by one run in the third inning, by five runs in the fourth, and then by one in fifth, the Express battled back each time to fight the hard-hitting Hooks to a 7-7 tie.

The Express's biggest rally came in the fourth. Down 6-1 and entering the home-half of the fourth, Sam W-S got things started with a stand-up double to right-center. After walks by Sommers D-N, Tyler J, and Ari F. scored the first run, Cole E cleared the bases with rocket double to left field. After two more walks to Erik W and Jonah L, Kiran K drove in the tying run with a single to left.

Sommers D-N came on to pitch in the top of the fifth and battled his way through seven Hooks batters, getting three strike outs to negate his three walks and yielding just one run. 'Sommers' pitching in the fifth is what kept us in the game,' said coach Brook after the game. 'He gave us quite a performance.'

In the bottom of the fifth, with timing running out on the game, Liam D lead off with a solid double up the middle. He scored two batters later on Tyler J's infield single. After that, the Hooks held firm, with relief pitcher Wes W. fanning Alex N. and Ari F. to end the game, knotted at seven runs a piece.

The game was tight before both teams broke out in the fourth inning. Sam W-S pitched two shut-out innings to start the game for the Express, striking out three and helping his own cause with an alert throw to the plate in the first and a nice play on a comebacker in the second. Cole E took over the reins on the mound in the third and worked around walks to the first two hooks he faced to strike out three and hold the Hooks at one run. John S. pitched the fourth, striking out one.

After the game, Coach Brook said, 'I was very pleased with how the team did not give up and played tough to the very end. The Hooks are a great team, so our guys should be very happy with how they played. It was a fun game to watch. Now, we're on the Thunder and the Naturals next weekend.'

Hooks Notes:
A foggy backdrop was the layout at Back Caldecott today as the game started out slowly with both teams looking like prize-fighters feeling each other out and through 2 it was still a shutout for each pitcher.
Traded runs in the 3rd and then big offensive innings by both teams in the 4th that saw the crooked 5-spot get put up in both halves of the inning. Marcus H for Hooks and Cole for the Express supplied all the power needed as each had bases clearing hits. Six all through 4 full.
Keon D hits the 2-out, what appears to have hopes of the GWRBI, into left center and top 5 ends with Hooks up 6=7.
Bottom 5 starts under time watch, as Express get lead-off single accompanied by Gopher hop and no outs man on 2nd. More crafty & aggressive base-running by the Express gets tie across the plate, and bases loaded. Wes w shuts the door and K's the side, but tie already in place and AAA time-limit places both teams into a handshake line. Exciting for all to watch the finish. See you next week for 2!
